Having started just one of AS Roma's last five league games, Mats Hummels appears to have no future with the Italian giants.
The 36-year-old German veteran has slipped down the pecking order since Claudio Ranieri took over as coach, and it's highly doubtful that his situation will change.
According to Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport, it's long been clear that Hummels will leave Roma at the end of the season, just one year after joining the club on a free transfer from Borussia Dortmund.
This is mainly for sporting reasons, but the 36-year-old didn't help his situation when he recently caused a stir with an Instagram post.
Hummels posted pictures of himself in Rome on social media and wrote: "The Oscar for the longest holiday goes to ....".
The post was interpreted as a reference to Roma owner Dan Friedkin, who won five Oscars as producer of the film Anora, but also as a sarcastic assessment of his own situation as a reserve player.
Hummels has since claimed that he did not mean to criticize his employer in any way.
