Hull City take on Ipswich Town in the Championship at the MKM Stadium on Saturday night.

The Tigers kept their play-off hopes alive with a dramatic 3-2 win over Coventry City at the CBS Arena on Wednesday night.

Hull took the lead in the 31st minute when Coventry goalkeeper Brad Collins spilled Jaden Philogene's strike into his own net, but the Sky Blues responded well, with Kasey Palmer equalising just five minutes later.

The Tigers restored their advantage just before half time through Fabio Carvalho's penalty, awarded after Joel Latibeaudiere was controversially adjudged to have brought down Liam Delap in the box, but Coventry again hit back, with Bobby Thomas' header levelling the scores in the 58th minute.

Thomas then gifted Hull their winner in the 78th minute when substitute Noah Ohio latched on to the defender's under-hit backpass and slotted past Collins to seal all three points.

Liam Rosenior's men currently sit seventh in the table, three points behind sixth-placed Norwich City and fifth-placed West Bromwich Albion.

Ipswich have been out of action for two weeks, and they will be looking to return to winning ways after three games without a victory.

The Tractor Boys were held to a 1-1 draw by Middlesbrough at Portman Road last time out, with Massimo Luongo's 30th-minute strike securing a point after Emmanuel Latte Lath had put the visitors ahead.

Kieran McKenna's side currently sit third in the table, one point behind second-placed Leeds United, but that gap could be four points by the time they kick off against Hull if the Whites win at QPR on Friday night.

Sky Sports pundit Prutton believes there will be little to separate Hull and Ipswich on Saturday night, predicting a 2-2 draw.

"Great win for Hull, they needed it, and Ipswich almost seem to be chronically underworked because everyone else seems to be playing!" Prutton said on the Sky Sports Championship Predictions podcast.

"The fact that they do play on Saturday night, there will be a tiny bit of clarity for both of these sides, and they will have that finite purpose and goal laid out in front of them.

"I'm fascinated to see what the dynamics of both these sides are going at it on Saturday night.

"Hull have given themselves a chance, Ipswich have been brilliant, marvellous, exquisite and ecstatic to watch over the course of the season.

"They will be keeping a keen eye on the Leeds game against QPR, but they are still very much in there."

It is a crucial game for both sides on Saturday night, and it is incredibly difficult to call.

After two weeks without a game, Ipswich will be desperate to get back on the pitch, but the Tractor Boys will be under huge pressure to beat Hull if Leeds win at QPR on Friday night.

Hull gave their play-off hopes a big boost with an impressive win at Coventry in midweek, and with the likes of Philogene and Carvalho in the team, they are certainly capable of causing problems for Ipswich.

It is understandable why Prutton has gone for a draw, but in truth, that is not an outcome that would suit either side.
