It looks as though Hull City may have already found their replacement for Liam Rosenior as the club's manager.

That's after a report from Sky Deutchsland claimed that Tim Walter is "about to sign" as the Tigers' new boss.

Hull somewhat unexpectedly sacked Rosenior on Tuesday, after a campaign in which he guided them to a seventh place finish in the second-tier table, and was nominated for the Championship Manager of the Season award.

However, it appears that after talks with the club, Walter - who has been out of work since being sacked by Hamburg back in February - is now set to take charge at The MKM Stadium.

Hull move quickly to find their Rosenior replacement

Following the sacking of Rosenior on Tuesday, several names had been touted as potential options to take over at the MKM Stadium.

One of those named was Walter, and it now seems as though he is indeed set to be the man who will be taking charge of the Tigers.

As per this latest update, there have already been talks between Hull and Walter about him moving to England to take charge of the Championship club.

In the wake of those talks, it is claimed that the 48-year-old is due to join the Tigers as their new manager.

Walter has been out of work since being sacked by Hamburg back in February, and this will be the first managerial role he has held outside his native Germany.

His first managerial role was with Bayern Munich's second-team, before he left to take charge of Holstein Kiel, who he guided to a fourth place finish in the German third-tier in the 2018/19 season.

That then saw him earn a move to in the summer of 2019, but he was sacked little more than half-a-year later, despite winning 11 and losing just five of his 20 games in charge.

Walter then returned to management with Hamburg in the summer of 2021, and remained there until a few months ago. In that time, the club missed out on a return to the Bundesliga via the promotion/relegation play-off in both of his full seasons in charge.

He was then sacked partway through this season, even though the club were again sitting third in the German second-tier standings.

Pressure on Walter if he takes over the Tigers

It does feel as though there will be a lot of scrutiny on Walter, if he is indeed named as Hull's new manager.

The decision to sack Rosenior was a surprise to many, given how well he had done for the Tigers over the course of the 2023/24 campaign.

As a result, whoever takes over is going to have to show that they can move the club even further forward, if they are to win over the fans and the board at The MKM Stadium.

That is unlikely to be easy in a division such as the Championship. However, the fact that Hamburg had plenty of form for reaching the play-offs under him, does at least bode well for Walter.

It will be interesting to see if that trend is something he can continue, now that he is stepping into a new club, league and country.
