The Tigers narrowly missed out on a play-off place in the Championship this season.

A seventh place finish proved not enough for Rosenior to keep his position in the dugout, with owner Acun Ilicali moving swiftly to dismiss the 39-year-old once the campaign ended.

The gap to sixth place Norwich City was just three points, with a final day defeat to Plymouth Argyle proving to be Rosenior’s last game in charge.

Hull have plenty of time until pre-season to find a permanent replacement, but will want to get someone in sooner rather than later.

Here we take a look at the latest news involving the Yorkshire outfit’s search for a Rosenior successor…

According to Hull Live, the Tigers have held a number of talks with frontrunning candidate Tim Walter over the managerial vacancy at the MKM Stadium.

Ilicali has been very involved in the process of finding Rosenior’s appointment and has held discussions with the German over the last two weeks.

The Turkish businessman is believed to be optimistic about Walter’s arrival following recent negotiations.

Hull are planning for a busy summer ahead, with between eight and 10 transfers being targeted.

Walter’s previous experience comes from working in the 2.Bundesliga with the likes of Stuttgart and HSV Hamburg.

Despite the appointment of Walter seeming inevitable, there has been some worry over why the deal hasn’t quite gotten over the line just yet.

But the Hull owner has come out and assured supporters that there will be no stumbling blocks that prevent an official announcement.

Speaking to the BBC’s Mike White, he assuaged any fears that a deal might not happen, saying supporters are “not to worry” about the situation.

He confirmed that an appointment will be announced soon, indicating Walter will join the club in early June.

This should still give him plenty of time to make plans for upcoming transfer business, as well as prepare for the first team squad’s return for pre-season in July.

The decision to dismiss Rosenior came as a surprise to many following the team’s impressive rise to promotion contention.

However, Ilicali has explained what has attracted him to the likely appointment of Walter instead.

The Turkish businessman has suggested that the 48-year-old’s style of play is much more suited to what he wants from the Hull team.

"With Liam we had [a shared vision] and we were number seven and we are proud,” said Ilicali, via Hull Live.

“With this guy, this time, forget about the character's mentality, the football mentality is what I dreamed of for our club.

“Tim Walter is coming from Bayern [Munich] Under-17s, who has produced many talents in football.

“He has a 1.82 [points] average in Hamburg.

"His football mentality is the one I've dreamed of.

“He plays new-generation football with an attacking style of football.
