Hull City winger James Scott is expected to remain on loan at Hibernian for the rest of the season, as per a recent report by Hull Live.

The 21-year-old moved on loan to Easter Road over the summer as part of a season long agreement but has largely struggled to make much of an impact north of the border.

As a result of this it was widely expected that Scott would make an early return to the MKM Stadium this month, however it now appears that he will be seeing out his existing deal with Hibs for the rest of the campaign.

Hibernian boss Shaun Maloney is keen to hold onto the youngster and it is unlikely that Scott would get much in the way of game time if he did return to Hull early.

The winger has made just six appearances this term and is yet to find the net for his current side after returning to Scottish football for the first time since his move from Motherwell to Hull back in January 2020.

The Verdict

It is probably for the best that Scott remains in Scotland as there is still plenty of time for him to make an impact north of the border after a slow start to his career with Hibs.

He is still a player that is in the early stages of his career and that is something that many people will have to bare in mind when assessing how he has progressed so far.

It is better for the 21-year-old to stay at Easter Road and get regualr game time moving forwards rather than sitting on the bench under Grant McCann, and that is something that the Hull boss will have acknowledged when making this decision.

It will certainly be interesting to see if Maloney makes him more of a first team regualr moving further into the year.
