Hull City have launched an ambitious attempt to lure Keane Lewis-Potter back to the club this month.

According to Hull Live, the Tigers made an approach this week to Brentford over a potential deal to bring back the promising young forward.

However, the Championship side were rejected by the Bees who see Lewis-Potter as an exciting talent who can have a big impact on the team’s campaign.

Lewis-Potter departed the MKM Stadium last summer in a big money move worth up to £20 million to Hull.

The winger had impressed many with his performances in the second tier in 2021-22, where he contributed 12 goals and three assists to help the club to 19th in the table.

The 21-year old has featured nine times in the Premier League, including three starts, but has only contributed one assist and zero goals.

Lewis-Potter’s last league start came in September in a 5-2 win over Leeds United, with his last top flight appearance coming in a 2-0 win over Bournemouth earlier this month.

Hull remain active in the transfer market despite suffering this blow, with the team aiming to make improvements before Tuesday’s deadline.

The Verdict

Lewis-Potter was the standout player for Hull last season in an otherwise middling campaign for the club.

The winger earned the Tigers a lot of money with the size of the sale agreed with Brentford.

But his time with the Bees has started off slowly, with game time hard to come by.

However, it comes as no surprise to see Brentford turn down any possible deal as the youngster still has a lot of potential and could yet play a role in the team’s pursuit of European football this season.
