The 19-year old is currently on loan at the MKM Stadium, where he has only featured twice in the Championship.

But it is believed that Liam Rosenior is keen to keep the midfielder at the club beyond his current agreement with the Blues.

It was previously reported that the Hull manager is impressed by the Englishman and believes he has a lot of potential to be a useful player to the team.

However, Chelsea are so far proving reluctant to agree to a sale with it still being possible that Simons is recalled from Hull.

In what year were Hull formed?

1904 1914 1924 1934

It is understood that any failed move by Hull to sign the Chelsea youngster this month will be met with another attempt in the summer, if he is still available.

Rosenior’s side are currently 15th in the table, five points adrift of the play-off places.

The Verdict

This is a bit of a strange one considering Rosenior’s reported interest contrasted with his lack of game time.

But the 19-year old is still developing and the Hull manager obviously sees something in him to want to keep him.

Adding an exciting young prospect to the squad on a permanent basis wouldn’t be the worst move as he should retain a solid resale value and could be worth quite a lot if he does reach his full potential.

It is promising that Hull are working into the closing hours of the window to find any improvements they can, having had a solid window up to this point regardless.
