Manchester City’s Joel Ndala has penned an agreement to join Hull City on loan for the duration of the forthcoming 2025/26 season, it has been announced.
The move marks another step in Ndala’s progression from one of City’s standout academy graduates to a player now firmly pushing for consistent senior exposure. Hull have beaten several interested clubs to secure the 19-year-old’s signature, with the Championship side keen to integrate pace and flair into their attack.
Ndala’s development over recent years has been closely monitored by senior figures at the Etihad, having joined from Port Vale in 2017 at the age of just 10. A key figure during a dominant period for City’s youth teams, the winger played major roles in securing two Under-18 Premier League titles, two Premier League 2 crowns, and the prestigious FA Youth Cup, while his 2022/23 season turned heads with 13 goals in 20 Under-18 appearances.
Senior involvement has gradually followed as Ndala featured three times in the EFL Trophy and was named in City’s squad for the 2023 FIFA Club World Cup in Saudi Arabia, also appearing in Pep Guardiola’s matchday squad during the 2024 summer pre-season tour and coming on as a substitute in a 4-3 win over Celtic in the USA.
Now, as confirmed in a statement by the Championship club on Tuesday, Joel Ndala has joined Hull City on a season-long loan from Manchester City, in his latest venture into senior men’s football.
Upon making the switch to East Yorkshire, Ndala said, “I feel very privileged to come to a club like this. I’m really excited and happy to join. The manager said he’s watched me since I was playing in the Youth Champions League, and he really showed me he wanted me to be here.
“I’m a direct, skilful winger; I like to take players on, dribble, create chances and score goals. It’s up to me to take this opportunity and run with it. I want to show people what I can bring to the team.
“The Championship is a good level and I’ll take the challenge head on. I’m going to give it my all and try to help the team out in every way I can. I’m ready to show the fans what I can do.”
This move follows two short-term spells in the 2024/25 season that helped ease Ndala into senior men’s football, having joined PSV Eindhoven’s Under-21 side in the Eerste Divisie, scoring once in 12 games before switching to Nottingham Forest’s academy setup in February.
City officials will be optimistic that Hull City can offer a more consistent and demanding platform than Ndala’s previous ventures, particularly under a manager who has tracked his development since his UEFA Youth League days.
Ndala’s direct dribbling, versatility across the front three, and natural flair make him an ideal fit for an ambitious Championship side looking to challenge the upper echelons of the division.
Looking ahead, Ndala will hope to emulate the loan success stories of players like James McAtee and Tommy Doyle, both of whom used EFL spells to showcase their readiness for top-flight football. If the teenager continues to impress, Manchester City could map out a pathway to Premier League involvement either at the Etihad or elsewhere in the 2026/27 season.
