Hull City and Bristol City are two sides currently on the periphery of the Championship play-offs at present due to the current congestion from fifth place down to where the Robins find themselves in 14th.

The respective sides do possess a number of strong attacking talents within their ranks that will no doubt play a significant part in their attempts to reach the play-offs, although both can be guilty of being rather inconsistent of late.

Liam Rosenior has already boosted his in East Yorkshire with the well-documented loan signing of Liverpool playmaker Fabio Carvalho, having fended off interest from high-flyers Leeds United and Southampton in the process.

This led to the debate about what ramifications the deal would have on Scott Twine's future at the MKM Stadium. However, both started Friday night's 2-1 defeat to Norwich City and, due to their versatile nature, were both seen featuring in an array of positions behind Aaron Connolly and latterly, Billy Sharp.

Twine had been on Hull's radar under Rosenior's predecessor, Shota Arveladze, after he enjoyed a more-than stellar campaign for MK Dons in 2021/22, accumulating 20 goals and 13 assists in Liam Manning's side that were defeated by Wycombe Wanderers in the play-off semi-finals.

Despite Hull's successful attempts to prize Twine away from his parent club Burnley this summer after unsuccessfully rivaling Vincent Kompany's side for his services in the aforementioned 2022 summer window, the 24-year-old's immediate future still remains up in the air.

It was revealed by Tom Collomosse on Wednesday evening that Bristol City have been monitoring Manning's former talisman amid his current situation at the Tigers, after initial links surfaced from Alan Nixon via Patreon back on December 24th.

However, Nixon has now stated that there is a fresh development on a potential deal.

He states that the two clubs in question will await a final decision on whether Twine can swap East Yorkshire for the West Country, as his parent club's deadline to activate the recall clause in his loan deal reaches its imminent conclusion, which could be within the next 24 hours.

As a result, it is believed to have significant implications on whether the midfielder has the possibility of joining his former head coach, who is still wanting to pursue a counter-offer for his signature for the remainder of the campaign.

Scott Twine's 2023/24 season so far

After playing a bit-part in Burnley's title success with three goals and one assist in just 14 appearances, Twine has featured on a way more consistent basis for the Tigers, despite his performances initially being rather inconsistent.

Back in November, he made the honest admission to improve his performances, and has since then been way more involved in the Tigers' attacking play, despite the overall side's inconsistencies of late, which has seen three wins and six defeats from their last nine Championship games.

After assists against Birmingham City and West Bromwich Albion in late October and early November, the midfielder recorded his first goal for the club as well as adding an assist in the 3-2 defeat to Bristol City.

His effort in the 3-0 victory against Cardiff City was ultimately the pick of the bunch, with the man renowned for his set-piece abilities finally delivering from such a position.

Rosenior will no doubt want to keep Twine at the MKM Stadium for a crucial period of the season, as he searches for the formula to make the Tigers tick over more consistently in the play-off race.

If he was to move to the West Country, Twine would be all too familiar with Manning's philosophy, but also faces stern competition from those in similar positions, in particular Anis Mehmeti.
