Real Madrid new signing Dean Huijsen talked about his decision to join Real Madrid, among other things, in an interaction with the club’s official media.

Huijsen joined Real Madrid in a big-money move from Bournemouth in the summer. He was roped in to add more strength in a Real Madrid defence that has struggled with injuries.

Dean Huijsen on joining Real Madrid

Huijsen is delighted to have joined Real Madrid, revealing that it has been a dream come true for the young Spanish defensive prodigy.

“It’s a dream come true for me. I think every kid dreams of playing for Real Madrid. It’s the greatest club in the world and I’m very happy and really proud to be here,” he said.

Huijsen played the entirety of 90 minutes during Real Madrid’s opening FIFA Club World Cup game against Al-Hilal.

This was the first game under new coach Xabi Alonso, who has promised many changes after replacing Carlo Ancelotti.

Talking about Alonso, the young defender said, “We’re very happy to have Xabi Alonso here too. I think he has a lot of good ideas, and we’re going to have some great years together.”

One of Alonso’s main tasks will be to ensure overall harmony in the squad, especially if he is to make many changes within the Real Madrid ecosystem.

“There’s a very good group and the locker room is very united; I’m very happy and proud to be here,” he said.

Team cohesion will indeed be important as Real Madrid look to recover in the next few matches in the Club World Cup.

“We are Madrid, we have to win and we will do it,” he concluded,

Huijsen is expected to be action once again as Real Madrid take on Pachuca tomorrow at the Bank of America Stadium.
