Hugo Lloris reported that ‘everything feels okay’ after returning to action on Thursday.

The goalkeeper is on his way back from a knee injury sustained late in our victory against Manchester City at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on 5 February.

Hugo has missed nine games since but took the important next step towards full fitness by playing 45 minutes of a training ground friendly against Ipswich Town at Hotspur Way.

“It was good to be back on the pitch, to have that reference,” club captain Hugo told us after pulling on his number one jersey again. “Obviously, it’s been a long journey, but step by step I’m closer to a return. I’ll keep working and I’d like to thank all the staff for their help.”

Hugo, currently with 443 appearances under his belt - up to seventh in our all-time list, nine behind another goalkeeping legend, Ted Ditchburn - said he felt the issue ‘straight away’ against City.

He described the moment. “It was a collision with Rodri and when he hit my right leg, I felt a movement. My knee didn’t respond. I was ready for the last kick of the game, and I kicked a strange ball! At that moment, I realised something was missing. The knee was swollen the next day. Everything feels okay now. I’ll continue to go step by step.”
