RMC Sport journalist Fabrice Hawkins is reporting that Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris (36) will not join Serie A side Lazio, despite fresh attempts to push through the deal.

It had been reported by L’Équipe that Lloris was close to a move to the Italian capital. Entering into the final year of his contract, the Premier League side were willing to let the former France captain leave on a free, in recognition of his service to the club. However, it then transpired that Lloris may not be first-choice for Maurizio Sarri’s side, throwing the proposed deal off course, as reported by L’Équipe.

RMC Sport now report that the deal has fallen through. Lazio made one last attempt to force the deal through on Wednesday morning but to no avail. The Serie A side had been offering a two-year deal with the option for a further year, but Lloris has refused this proposition.

Whilst Lloris remains open to offers between now and the end of the window, with time ticking away, there is now a very real possibility that France’s most-capped player will remain at Tottenham beyond the end of the month.
