Despite having one year left on his current deal, Hugo Lloris has confirmed that he is considering leaving Tottenham Hotspur in the summer on a free transfer. L’Équipe reported in May that Lloris would leave the North London club in the summer and it appears he has now confirmed those reports.

Speaking to NiceMatin about his future, the World Cup winner said: “We have reached an important moment, whether it be for the club or me. It’s the end of an era. I have a desire for something else. I will carefully study what is possible. However, I haven’t forgotten that I have a year left on my contract at Tottenham, and in football, it’s always hard to predict what will happen. Such comments indicate that the former France captain will be looking to switch North London for pastures new come the summer transfer window. Lloris also commented on what type of project he is looking for, stating: “The most important thing is I find a project where I thrive.” Also speaking to Nice–Matin, the Tottenham keeper didn’t rule out a return to his former club OGC Nice.

Lloris retired from France national team duties after the World Cup final defeat to Argentina in Qatar and has found himself under increasing scrutiny at Tottenham following his performances for the club, including finding himself substituted at halftime in a 6-1 defeat to Newcastle. Where ever he ends up, he will be hoping to recapture the form that saw him succeed at Spurs for 11 years.
