Huge poll results show Barcelona fans want Ousmane Dembele gone

Over the past half a decade, there have been few Barcelona players who have made the headlines regularly – for reasons good and bad. Among the former are Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, and a few others.

Meanwhile, Ousmane Dembele has ended on the end of the latter a little more than he would like. While most of it is his love-affair with serious injuries, there are parts dedicated to his underwhelming performances, his poor discipline, and most recently, his contract trouble.

The Frenchman’s first (and only till now) Barça contract is set to expire in June 2021. And while there have been hints about a renewal, it looks like it all has gone south. Dembele – reportedly – wants a salary that reflects his potential, and for a club strapped financially, it seems rather tricky.

The problem is, Dembele, unlike Philippe Coutinho and Antoine Griezmann, always had a proper position in the team. As such, he always had the fans’ support. However, it looks like the tables are turning.

According to a poll conducted by us at Barça Universal on Twitter, the majority of the Barcelona faithful want Dembele gone.

The poll, asking if the fans would ‘let go of Dembele’, received 8,715 votes, with 55% of them leaning towards ‘Yes’. That is 4,793 people affirming his departure. Meanwhile, 3,922 people voted in favour of him staying.

The World Cup winner has only played three games this season, recently returning from a serious injury. He is in contention to start the game against Real Betis, but it remains to be seen if he gets the same treatment as Ilaix Moriba, who was sent to the stands after he refused to extend.

Meanwhile, Dembele has been linked with an exit to several clubs, but it looks like Manchester United and Juventus are sitting in the driver’s seat.
