Whether promotion is achieved or not at Leeds United, the club is likely to be in for another important summer.

Daniel Farke will be keen to strengthen his side more, and there are already one or two areas that stand out to the supporters.

Right-back is an area of concern for Leeds United

The Yorkshire side have really struggled at right-back this season, as Archie Gray and other players have had to fill in that spot over the campaign as other players have been out injured.

Leeds then decided to bring in Connor Roberts on loan from Burnley in the January transfer window.

The 28-year-old has done reasonably well for the Whites, but given that he is on loan, he will return to Turf Moor at the end of the season.

Therefore, that would leave the club with Jamie Shackleton as their only recognised right-back, as it seems Luke Ayling will also be leaving the club this summer.

The experienced defender is coming to the end of his contract, and it seems that he will leave Elland Road when it expires in June.

Middlesbrough and Sheffield United have been linked with the defender, but they have now been joined by Birmingham City in recent days.

So, given the situations around certain players at Leeds, the right-back area is something that needs to be addressed by Farke and the hierarchy this summer.

Now, Leeds could go into the market and find a new right-back to solve the issue, but they could also look closer to home and make a U-turn on Cody Drameh’s situation.

Cody Drameh U-turn would be ideal for Leeds United

Cody Drameh has been on the books at Leeds United since 2020, when he joined the club from Fulham.

The defender was integrated into the club’s under-21 team straight away, with him not making over 40 appearances for them to this day.

As well as featuring heavily for the academy team, Drameh has also had his fair share of loans, with his Birmingham City spell this season being his third of his career.

Before this season, the 22-year-old spent six months with Cardiff City and six months with Luton Town.

The defender played a key role in the Hatters’ promotion last season, and it was expected he would return to Elland Road and be a key part of their defence, given their relegation to the Championship.

However, that wasn’t the case, and him being sent out on loan once again this season shows how far down the pecking order he is at the club.

It has so far been a frustrating time for Drameh at Leeds, as he’s only played 10 games for the club, and they have mainly come in cameo appearances.

Drameh has done rather well while with Birmingham City, as the defender has started 23 of the 29 league games he has featured in.

In that time, Drameh hasn’t managed to score, but he has chipped in with three assists, which is much better than his xAG of 1.56. As well as the assists, the defender has created two big chances and has been heavily involved in the games, touching the ball 59.1 times.

In defence, Drameh has also done well, as he’s made 0.9 interceptions as well as 2.8 tackles and has recovered the ball an impressive 4.9 times, as per Sofascore.com.

The defender is now heading into a crucial point in his career, as his contract comes to an end in June at Leeds, and he needs to decide what he wants to do next.

Drameh has had a solid season at Birmingham, and while he has been out of favour at Elland Road, the club needs to address the right-back slot this summer, so changing their minds on Drameh could be huge for the club.
