Chelsea are scheduled to face Bayern Munich in the second leg of their Champions League round of 16 tie tonight. The Blues are trailing 3-0 after the first leg at Stamford Bridge and they need a near-miracle to overturn the tie at the Allianz Arena in the absence of several first-team stars due to injuries and suspensions.

Formation: 3-4-3

Predicted Lineup:

It is clear that Kepa Arrizabalaga is no longer the first-choice goalkeeper after being dropped to the bench for key games against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Arsenal. Willy Caballero is expected to make his third successive appearance between the sticks.

In the backline, there will be enforced changes with Cesar Azpilicueta sidelined with a hamstring injury for three weeks while Marcos Alonso is suspended after his sending off during the reverse leg against Bayern in February.

Andreas Christensen should come in to replace Azpilicueta in the back three. Antonio Rudiger and Kurt Zouma are likely to accompany him ahead of Fikayo Tomori, who has not managed a single minute of competitive football since the season restart in June.

At right wing-back, Reece James is a definite starter. On the opposite end, Emerson should receive a rare appearance in the absence of Alonso. The Italian could be playing his final game for the club, considering he has been widely fancied to be replaced this summer.

In the centre of the park, Mateo Kovacic will have a new midfield partner. Jorginho is suspended after accumulating three yellow cards in the competition which qualifies for a one-match European ban. N’Golo Kante is likely to make his first appearance since early July after being deemed fit by Lampard to start.

In the frontline, a solitary change is expected after Christian Pulisic’s hamstring injury during the second half of the FA Cup final. In his absence, Callum Hudson-Odoi could get a rare start on the left wing. Mason Mount should feature on the opposite flank with Olivier Giroud leading the line.

Willian won’t play any part in the game due to an unknown injury. The Brazil international seems to have made the mind up to pursue a fresh challenge after the club declined his demands for a three-year contract extension. He is close to joining Arsenal on a free transfer.
