The Terriers' owner, Kevin Nagle, was able to persuade Neil Warnock to stay in charge during the early stages of the 2023/24 campaign, and under the 75-year-old, the club could have secured safety once again.

However, the call was made in September to replace him with Darren Moore, who won promotion the season before with Sheffield Wednesday.

Nagle initially started off in finance at LA-based company EF Hutton, but the real game-changer for him was when he co-founded a pharmaceutical firm, called Envision Pharmaceutical Holdings.

He eventually sold it for a sizeable £1.8bn, but that isn't the only source of his wealth.

He also owns 'The Nagle Company', which is a real estate company that deals with retail, entertainment, offices and residential developments.

The American made a lot of money in sport, having previously been an investor in the Sacramento Kings, an NBA team.

Selling his shares for a reported £6.7bn, that has given him plenty of money to play with, and it wouldn't be a surprise to see him invest a decent amount to try and get Huddersfield back to the top tier.

Newly-appointed boss Duff might have been a free agent, but he is probably being paid a fair amount considering he's a high-quality manager who has already won a promotion during his managerial career and came very close to winning a second with Barnsley at the end of 2022/23.

At the time of writing, there's no concrete online record of Nagle's net worth or estimated net worth, although The Sun has described him as a multi-billionaire.

Considering how much he sold his shares in the Sacramento Kings for, that description doesn't come as a surprise.

In March 2023, when Nagle was in the process of buying the Terriers, ex-Yorkshire Live writer Steven Chicken admitted that online results regarding how much the American was worth were mixed, something that may have come as a concern to Huddersfield fans who would have been eager to know how wealthy their then-prospective owner was.

However, the 69-year-old has been able to run the Terriers without experiencing cash flow or liquidity issues, and also passed a stringent EFL Owners and Directors Test to take control of the Yorkshire club.

And it seems unlikely that he would be worth only $500m considering the amount he has generated from selling shares in his former basketball team.
