  1. Huddersfield Town have struggled under Darren Moore, with only one win in seven games, and they may be regretting letting Neil Warnock go.
  2. Currently sitting in 21st, just one place above the relegation zone, Huddersfield could be overtaken by QPR, who are expected to appoint Warnock.
  3. Warnock has a reputation for firefighting and getting teams out of danger, so his appointment at QPR could come at the expense of Huddersfield's survival in the Championship.

They looked to be favourites to go down for much of the season, with the Terriers failing to get results under Danny Schofield and Mark Fotheringham.

But they managed to improve their form under the stewardship of Neil Warnock, who was able to guide the club to safety before the final day, which was a remarkable achievement.

They sealed their survival with a 1-0 win against Sheffield United, which was a great achievement in itself considering the Blades secured automatic promotion at the end of this term.

The West Yorkshire outfit may have been helped out by Reading's six-point deduction during the latter stages of last term - but they would have survived anyway - finishing in 18th place in the end above the likes of Rotherham United, Queens Park Rangers and Cardiff City.

Warnock was only set to stay at the club until the end of 2022/23, but new owner Kevin Nagle convinced him to remain at the John Smith's Stadium beyond then.

Starting this season respectably considering their lack of transfer business during the summer transfer window, the Terriers decided to make a managerial change last month, with Darren Moore coming in to replace the 74-year-old.

How have Huddersfield Town got on under Darren Moore?

Unfortunately for Moore, he has only managed to win one of his seven games in charge. In fairness to him, his first two results were good, managing to secure draws against Coventry City and Ipswich Town.

But they have been unable to build on that since, suffering heavy defeats against Birmingham City, Cardiff and Leeds United.

Their only win under the ex-Sheffield Wednesday boss came against fellow strugglers QPR, who have decided to sack Gareth Ainsworth.

At the moment, the Terriers are currently sitting in 21st, just one place above the relegation zone with plenty of games left in the season for the bottom three to catch up with them.

One of those teams is QPR, who currently sit six points behind the West Yorkshire outfit. That's not a huge deficit to make up with 32 league games.

With Ainsworth now gone, the R's will need to make the right appointment to get themselves out of the drop zone and The Telegraph have reported that ex-Terrier Warnock is expected to take over at Loftus Road.

Previously getting the club promoted, he is familiar with the R's already and has done plenty of firefighting jobs before, getting teams out of danger and into a much better position.

With Moore's time at the John Smith's Stadium not working out so far, Huddersfield may be regretting letting Warnock go already and they will be regretting it even more if QPR overtake them under Warnock.

You would back the 74-year-old to get the West London side out of their current mess - and if he does - he could do that at the expense of Huddersfield who could potentially find themselves in League One next season because they dismissed Warnock and allowed a fellow relegation battler to appoint him.
