Portsmouth recently completed the loan signing of Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Harvey White as Kenny Jackett looks to add depth and quality to his existing squad as we move into the second half of the League One season.

The youngster was handed his Spurs bow by Jose Mourinho this term against Ludogorets in the Europa League last November, whilst the midfielder also most recently played a part in the club’s FA Cup game away at Marine.

Now the teenager has been handed the opportunity to impress with Pompey for the second half of the campaign, and here we have decided to take a look at where we feel the playmaker will fit in at Fratton Park.

More of a deeper-lying midfield player by trade, White’s ideal position in Jackett’s current 4-2-3-1 system would be at the base of the defensive midfield two alongside either Andrew Cannon or Tom Naylor.

As stated recently by the Pompey boss, the midfielder is an excellent footballer who possesses the unique ability to glide past opponents in the centre of the field, meaning that he will be capable of dictating the tempo of games during his temporary switch to the South Coast.

Portsmouth have also opted for a classic 4-4-2 formation this term, yet another system that White could easily adapt too as it allows him the room to drop deep and receive the ball on the half turn from the Pompey backline before spraying passes either out wide or through the thirds in central areas.

Despite his tender age, this loan signing should help the League One outfit to rediscover their possession based style that served them so well under former manager Paul Cook and in turn will make them more attractive to watch when on the ball.
