The 2025 Women’s European Championship is fast approaching and will take centre stage this summer.

It will be the 14th staging of the tournament which began in 1984 and from 1987 until 1997 — when it was increased from four to eight teams — was staged every two years.

The event became quadrennial thereon, though Euro 2021 was postponed a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Twelve teams contested the 2009 and 2013 tournaments, before the field was increased to 16 in 2017.

England are the defending champions after winning their first crown three years ago. The Lionesses defeated Germany, who are the most successful nation in the competition’s history with eight titles.

When is Women’s Euro 2025?

The 2025 UEFA Women’s Championship — and what will be the 14th edition of the event — will take place from 2-27 July, across 31 matches.

Where is Women’s Euro 2025 taking place?

Switzerland will play host to the tournament for the first time, with those 31 matches taking place across eight venues.

Arena Thun will play host to the opening game of the tournament between Iceland and Finland on 2nd July, with St Jakob-Park staging the final 25 days later.

The tournament will be played across the following cities and stadiums (capacity):

How to watch Women’s Euro 2025 in the UK?

Every single Women’s Euro 2025 match will be available to watch or stream free-to-air in the UK.

The 31 games can be watched live either on the BBC (BBC iPlayer) and ITV (ITVX), though both channels will share coverage of the final on 27th July from 5pm (UK time).
