Manchester United host Ipswich Town at Old Trafford on Wednesday night, desperate to end their poor run of form and secure a much-needed victory in front of their home fans.

The Red Devils have won just two of their last 10 Premier League matches and were forced to settle for a 2-2 draw against Everton at Goodison Park last weekend.

Meanwhile, Ipswich make their first league visit to Old Trafford since 2001, looking to capitalise on United’s struggles at home. However, the Tractor Boys own form has been worrying—they suffered a heavy 4-1 defeat to Tottenham at home last time out, leaving them five points from safety and stuck in 18th place in the table.

With both teams in search of a vital win, here’s everything you need to know ahead of the game.

Recent form

United are winless in their last three Premier League matches and have lost five of their last six home league games. Despite a second-half comeback against Everton last weekend, they remain under pressure to deliver in front of their own fans.

Ipswich are without a win in their last six matches, with their only point coming in a surprise draw at Aston Villa. They have, however, picked up more points on the road (10) than at home (7) this season.

What’s been said?

Ruben Amorim says he hopes to use his team’s late comeback at Everton as a turning point: “Since I arrived, I expect to win all the games at home. I don’t feel the pressure. The supporters are amazing, and every time we play at Old Trafford, we feel their support until the end. We have to stop thinking about past results, this can be a new game, a new story, so let’s go forward and play.”

Kieran McKenna, a former Manchester United first-team coach, acknowledges the challenge ahead but sees an opportunity for his side: “Of course, I know quite a few of the players on a more detailed level. Our players know their players very well, and we know it’s going to be a big challenge. But we also feel there’s an opportunity to go and put in a really good performance.”
