The race for automatic promotion in League Two looks set to go down to the wire, with four teams vying for a spot inside the top three.

Stockport County lead the way in the standings, having won both of their Easter weekend fixtures against Forest Green Rovers and AFC Wimbledon, but will be looking tentatively over their shoulders, with six points separating the top four.

Mansfield Town, Wrexham and MK Dons will all be hopeful of Dave Challinor's side slipping up in their remaining fixtures to stand a chance of winning the title, but the most important objective is finishing inside the top three to earn promotion to the third tier.

Here at Football League World, we take a look at each side's remaining fixtures for the campaign and how the battle for a place in League One next season will play out.

Along with Mansfield, Stockport have games in hand over their automatic promotion rivals and will be hopeful of continuing their good recent form when they return to action this weekend.

The Hatters extended their unbeaten run in the league to eight matches with their win over AFC Wimbledon, and have a good opportunity to earn a fourth consecutive win in their next fixture against relegation-threatened, Sutton United, the first of four away games during the promotion run-in.

Challinor's side will travel to Colchester United, who are also fighting to stay in the division, the following week before facing Morecambe, who are also fighting for a place in the play-offs.

A midweek trip to Meadow Lane will follow with head coach Stuart Maynard potentially still looking for a first home win of his Magpies tenure, before welcoming Accrington Stanley to Edgeley Park in their penultimate game of the campaign.

The final day will see a potential title-deciding clash take place in North Wales, with Stockport travelling to Wrexham in what should be an incredible atmosphere inside the Stok Cae Ras.

The Stags are in no danger of missing out on the play-off spots all together having been cruely denied of a place in the top six last term by Salford City on goal difference, and Nigel Clough will be hoping his side can challenge for the title this campaign.

Mansfield kick off their run-in with a home game against Crawley Town, the first of four home ties at Field Mill until the end of the season, welcoming Forest Green Rovers to the East Midlands, who are fighting to stay in the division, three days later.

Arguably their toughest fixture of their six remaining games is an away trip to fellow automatic promotion hopefuls, MK Dons. Clough will be wary of the Stags' record against the Dons, having failed to beat them in their previous three league encounters.

Gillingham are the visitors in their penultimate game of the campaign, before making the 169-mile trip to face Barrow on the final day of the season, hopeful they will be celebrating promotion for the first time since their triumph in non-league back in 2013.

Who do Wrexham play in their remaining fixtures?

Wrexham had the opportunity to go second in midweek but failed to overcome a resurgent Doncaster Rovers who, after a poor start to the season, are now seven points off the top six.

However, Phil Parkinson will be hopeful his players are not feeling sorry for themselves heading into the final five games of their season, with two of their fixtures coming against sides fighting for survival in the division.

A trip to Colchester kicks off their run-in and the Red Dragons will be wary of Mansfield's recent slip-up against Danny Cowley's side. A return to North Wales follows with a midweek clash against play-off hopefuls, Crawley Town.

Forest Green are the next visitors to the Stok Cae Ras for Wrexham, before two extremely tough encounters to finish the season.

Crewe Alexandra await in Cheshire who hold play-off ambitions of their own, with their final day clash against Stockport needing no introduction as to what potentially could be at stake.

Who do MK Dons play in their remaining fixtures?

Mike Williamson's side have the fewest games of the top four remaining, and the MK Dons coach was disappointed with their weekend display against Notts County, having conceded late on.

But the number of fixtures remaining could be considered an advantage for the Dons, with more rest between games when compared to the surrounding sides potentially a deciding factor whether they finish in the top three, or the play-off positions.

A trip to bottom club Forest Green awaits Williamson and his team this weekend, before welcoming Mansfield to Stadium MK in what is, on paper, their toughest fixture of their remaining four fixtures.

Their penultimate game of the season will see them travel north to face Harrogate Town, before returning back to Milton Keynes to take on Sutton United, who could need a win to survive on the final day.
