There was some speculation among Chelsea fans that Romelu Lukaku might not start today’s game against Manchester City.

The logic was simply that the striker had played in all 3 of the cup games in the last week, and his manager might consider starting him on the bench.

But there he is, on the teamsheet for today’s massive game. Perhaps this has been revenge for complaining about not playing enough?

In any case, there is a great tactical case for him today. He showed his amazing ability on the break when he was at Inter, but with teams playing so deep against Chelsea he rarely gets a chance to show that off now.

City will play with a high line though, and if we can find the right ball into him today, he could cause serious damage.

It will be all about keeping our back line tight against City, drawing them high up the pitch, then releasing the forward at the right moment.
