Real Madrid’s supporters made use of the club’s victory over Girona this evening to have some fun at the expense of arch rivals Barcelona.
Real, of course, are fresh off an outing to remember.
After welcoming the aforementioned Girona to the Santiago Bernabéu for a top of the table La Liga showdown, Carlo Ancelotti’s troops ran riot, thanking goals on the part of Vinícius Jr, Jude Bellingham (2) and Rodrygo for an eventual 4-0 triumph.
The result saw Los Blancos open up a five-point advantage atop the table.
More than that, though, it saw Real reiterate their superiority over the rest of Spanish top-flight.
This, of course, includes a Barcelona outfit who have endured a campaign to forget to date, under the watch of soon-to-be former head coach Xavi Hernández.
The headline talking point in Catalunya’s capital for several weeks now has come in the form of Barca’s search for a new manager, amid links with the likes of Jürgen Klopp, Hansi Flick, and Sérgio Conceição.
On Saturday, though, the Real Madrid faithful made clear their hope that Xavi, ultimately, will go on to stay put this summer.
Taking firm aim at those on the other side of the Clásico divide, the home crowd inside the Bernabéu were heard coming together to belt out a chorus of:
“Xavi quédate, Xavi quédate” – translating directly to “Xavi, stay”.
