Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland is likely to be at the centre of an intense transfer tug-of-war in the near future, and Real Madrid believe they may have an edge over their rivals for his signature.
Haaland is of course a Norwegian international and from playing for the national team, the 20-year-old has struck up a firm friendship with Real Madrid midfielder Martin Ødegaard.
And German outlet Ruhr24 claim Los Blancos are hoping that friendship will be enough to convince Haaland to move to the Santiago Bernabeu rather than join another top European club.
“My son loves to play with Martin, he’s a great player and they get along very well on the pitch,” Erling’s father Alfe Inge Haaland has been quoted as telling AS in the past.
So it’s all set then? Haaland to Real Madrid. Why would he go anywhere else?
Well Manchester United perhaps might hope that Haaland’s relationship with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer (who previously coached him at Molde) will make him eager to head to Old Trafford one day.
Time will tell.
