How Portsmouth, Derby County and Bolton Wanderers' final few fixtures compare

Derby County secured a 2-2 draw at Portsmouth last night, which has left both sets of fans feeling fairly satisfied.

After going 1-0 and 2-1 up, the Rams will perhaps be a little frustrated that they were unable to hold on to the lead at Fratton Park, but they were facing their most difficult game of the season on paper.

With this in mind, a point is a positive result for Derby, who will be hoping to stay above Bolton Wanderers in the league table.

Bolton beat Reading 5-2 on Easter Monday, but Derby's draw is a slight setback for them, although they still have the chance to secure an automatic promotion spot.

It looks set to be a thrilling finale - and we have compared League One's top three teams in terms of their final fixtures of the campaign.

Pompey don't face the easiest task, but they are clear favourites to go on and secure the title now.

First up, they face Shrewsbury Town and that should be a win for them, with this game at Fratton Park.

The Shrews aren't completely safe at the moment, but they aren't favourites to be relegated either and this means Paul Hirst's side aren't desperate for a win.

Their next test after that is a tough one though, with the south-coast side heading to Bolton.

The Trotters have been excellent at home recently, putting five past the Royals and Oxford United.

John Mousinho's side return home for their next two games after that, with Barnsley and Wigan Athletic the visitors. Six points from six should be the aim from those two games, before Pompey head to an in-form Lincoln City side.

With the fixtures they have, they should be looking to seal the league title.

Derby County

Derby have one fewer game than their other two automatic promotion rivals.

Their away game at Wycombe Wanderers could be a tough one - but they should come away with the three points from Adams Park.

Next up, they face Leyton Orient (H) and Cambridge United (A). Both of these teams will more than likely be in the third tier again next term, so those are winnable games.

But their most winnable match comes on the final day of the campaign, when they face bottom side Carlisle United at home. The Cumbrians will be relegated by the time this game happens.

With these fixtures in mind, Derby are favourites to seal a top-two place with Pompey.

Bolton Wanderers

Position: 3rd | Played: 41 | Points: 78

Ian Evatt's side could still finish fourth or fifth with Peterborough United and Barnsley still in the mix. But following their big win on Monday, they are still in a strong position.

Bristol Rovers aren't in the best form and with Bolton travelling to the Memorial Stadium next, that is an opportunity for Wanderers.

Back-to-back home games against Shrewsbury Town and Port Vale are also a great opportunity for them.

But on either side of those matches, they face Pompey at home and Peterborough (A), travelling to the latter on the final day of the campaign.

Ideally, Evatt's side should be looking to win 15 points from 15 to give themselves the best chance of winning a top-two spot, but that's a big assignment considering these two games that they are set to face this month.
