The former Leeds United attacking midfielder has his say on the club's promotion
Former Leeds United playmaker Pablo Hernandez has reacted to his former side securing promotion to the Premier League.
Like in 2020, Leeds players celebrated their promotion in a hospitality suite at Elland Road, after Burnley's win over Sheffield United at Turf Moor confirmed the Whites' return to the top flight after two seasons in the Championship.
Plenty of contributors in the squad which won the second tier in 2020 still sit fondly in the hearts of those who follow Leeds United, arguably none more so than Spanish magician Pablo Hernandez.
Pablo Hernandez reacted to Leeds United's promotion via a story post on his Instagram.
It read: "Yes!! We come back!!! M.O.T," the abbreviated 'Marching on Together' shows how, despite leaving the club in 2021, he still holds Leeds United close to his heart.
And it's a feeling that's very much mutually reciprocated. Many around Elland Road feel he's one of the best players to play for the club since their relegation from the Premier League in 2004, and they showed their appreciation when the 40-year-old announced his retirement from football at the end of the 2022/23 season.
Hernandez made more appearances for Leeds United than he did for any other club in his career, netting 36 times and assisting 38 in the Championship across four seasons for the club.
The attacking midfielder will most definitely have been celebrating in Spain last night, and many Leeds fans will hope to see him in the stands at Elland Road at least once next season as they return to the Premier League.
When the dust settles on the promotion party at Elland Road later this week, Daniel Farke will be quick to remind his players that the season is still not over, and there's still plenty to play for.
Whilst promotion is sweet, Leeds will have their eyes on securing a second Championship title in five seasons. Burnley will be hoping for their second in three.
Additionally, both Leeds and Burnley could become the seventh and eighth teams to reach 100 points in a 46-game Championship season if both were to win their last two games.
Leeds have the privilege of knowing whether Burnley were able to keep up their mammoth unbeaten run before they take to the pitch next, as they welcome Bristol City to Elland Road on Monday night, where the party atmosphere will be present in their final home game of the season.
