The winger joined the Tractor Boys last summer after they earned their place in the top flight, signing on a permanent basis after helping them to promotion while on loan from Chelsea.

The 21-year-old featured 31 times in the league last season, but his three goals and two assists weren’t enough to keep the team in the division.

Kieran McKenna’s side finished 19th in the table, and are now preparing for another promotion push in the Championship in the hopes of an immediate Premier League return.

It was reported by Football Insider in May that the forward has a £35 million relegation release clause in his contract, leading to uncertainty over his future at Portman Road.

It has been claimed by the Daily Mail that Hutchinson is keen to test himself at the highest level possible amid transfer interest from the Premier League.

It’s understood that he is thankful for the opportunity that Ipswich have given him, affording him the chance to compete at a top flight level.

However, there is reportedly interest from the likes of Everton, Brentford, West Ham and Fulham, which could lead to an exit this summer.

There are also clubs outside of English football monitoring the situation surrounding the forward, with RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund also believed to be keen.

It has been written that Ipswich could consider a deal in the region of £30 million, meaning they may not hold out for the entire release clause in the player’s contract in order to sanction a sale.

Hutchinson is reportedly ready to compete at a European level, which could also open the door to a move away from England, which Ipswich could be more open to as it avoids selling to a potential rival.

RB Leipzig failed to qualify for Europe for next season, although they have become regulars on the continent in recent years, while Dortmund will be competing in the Champions League once again.

Ipswich Town’s summer plans

Ipswich have already felt the consequence of relegation this summer, with Liam Delap making the switch to Chelsea.

Axel Tuanzebe has also departed following the end of his contract, with the defender making the switch to newly-promoted Burnley.

Hutchinson following them out the door of the Suffolk outfit would be a blow to McKenna’s side ahead of their Championship return given how important he’s proven in the last couple of seasons.

Supporters would certainly be upset at his exit, especially given the role he played in their promotion to the top flight.

The winger contributed 10 goals and four assists in the league when Ipswich gained promotion in the 2023/24 campaign.

The Tractor Boys have yet to officially make a new signing this summer, with player sales like Hutchinson potentially taking greater importance at this stage of the window.

However, McKenna will surely be keen to add players to the squad to bolster their chances of fighting for a top two spot in the Championship.
