This upward trajectory began when the US group led by Tom Wagner took over the Blues in 2023.

Tom Brady, considered by some to be the greatest American Football player of all time, subsequently bought a stake in Birmingham at the start of the 2023/24 campaign and has been heavily involved with the club ever since.

The 47-year-old’s elite mentality will no doubt have helped install this new winning culture around the Blues’ camp, despite his lack of knowledge regarding the beautiful game.

During his 23-season career in the NFL, Brady accumulated a ginormous sum of money that highlights his capabilities on the playing field.

Football League World have compared the fortune Brady earned in the NFL to what the current Birmingham City stars are estimated to be taking home.

Few athletes will be able to boast the sort of financial earnings Brady can, with the sporting legend well compensated for his seven Super Bowls.

Throughout his career that spanned over two decades, Brady earned a total of $332,962,392 million, according to Spotrac.

Forbes also revealed in 2023 that he'd made around $200 million from off-field revenue streams, such as sponsorship deals.

The NFL icon penned some eye-watering contracts during his playing days, including a six-year, $60 million deal with the New England Patriots in 2005, which included a $26.5 million signing bonus.

This was extended in 2010, with Brady signing up for another four years with the Patriots in an agreement worth $72 million, which included a $48.5 million bonus.

These numbers dwarf the current earnings that the Birmingham City squad take home.

As per Capology, the Blues’ annual wage bill is just over £16 million or £308,000 on a weekly basis.

This was League One’s highest wage bill by a country mile but doesn’t lay a glove on what Brady was taking home during his career.

As the Blues prepare for life in the Championship, the money that they are paying players is likely to increase and therefore may rank closer to the financial numbers in Brady’s ballpark by the end of the window.

Birmingham and Brady share similar ambition

Although their current level of finances aren’t comparable, Brady does share his ambitious attitude with the Blues’ current squad.

The way Birmingham dominated League One last term was of the same ilk as the NFL star’s iconic performances. Brady will hope that the club can continue this upward trajectory and reach greater heights in years to come.

Coupled with Wagner, the Second City side are backed by some individuals who won’t stop until they arrive at the very top of English football.

Eventually, the Birmingham squad may feature stars who command similar wages to what Brady enjoyed during his career, but there is still some way to go until then.
