According to Ben Jacobs, the Swans are in more advanced talks to sign the forward but the Foxes are weighing up an offer.

Kone was a standout performer in League One last season, playing a crucial role in Wanderers earning a play-off place.

The 22-year-old scored 18 goals from 41 appearances, with the side coming fifth in the third division table, missing out on promotion with a play-off semi-final loss to Charlton Athletic.

It has been reported that it will take around £5 million for Wycombe to agree to a sale for Kone this summer.

It is understood that Swansea are currently ahead in the race for the forward’s signature at the moment.

However, Leicester are also interested in the player, with Martí Cifuentes looking to bolster the team’s attacking options.

It is believed that the Foxes are still considering a bid, with it unclear at this stage what the player’s preference is for the next step in his career.

Kone joined Wycombe in January 2024, and has been a key figure in the side in that time, scoring a total of 21 goals from 58 league games.

The Ivorian has a contract with the League One side until the summer of 2026.

Swansea City’s summer business

Alan Sheehan has overseen a busy summer transfer window at Swansea since being appointed permanent manager at the end of the previous campaign.

The Welsh outfit have added the likes of Jeidane Inoussa, Ethan Galbraith and Bobby Wales to the squad on a permanent basis.

Cameron Burgess and Ricardo Santos have also joined as free agents after departing Ipswich Town and Bolton Wanderers, respectively.

Swansea will begin their season with a trip to face Middlesbrough on Saturday in a 3pm kick-off.

Kone signing has promise for Swansea

Swansea don’t have a wealth of attacking options, so it’s not surprising that they’re in the market for another forward.

Some competition for Liam Cullen could have potential, and Kone coming in as that player could be smart business.

He had a very promising season in League One last year, and showed he could be ready to compete in the Championship.

If they can get this over the line for around £5 million, then this has the potential to be a very shrewd piece of business for this summer.
