The Premier League is the most lucrative domestic division in world football and England’s top clubs were awarded handsomely again in 2024/25.
All 20 of the top-flight teams in English football banked more than £100m in prize money for the campaign, according to the latest estimates released by The Athletic.
Liverpool were the biggest winners, with Arne Slot having guided the Reds to the Premier League title. The Merseysiders exceeded all expectations to win the title in Slot’s debut season, after the Dutchman replaced Jurgen Klopp at Anfield last summer.
According to the figures, Liverpool earned around £181.5m in prize money for winning the Premier League, funds that already look likely to be reinvested as transfer talks continue for Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez and Florian Wirtz.
Southampton were the lowest-earners, but still took home a prize pot of £110.9m. The Saints will need those funds to rebuild after a record-breaking relegation. Relegated with seven games to spare, no side in Premier League history has ever gone down earlier.
Dismal domestic seasons for Manchester United (£139.5m) and Tottenham Hotspur (£130.4m) impacted their earning. Both were awarded more than £40m less than champions Liverpool.
