It was reported by journalist Anthony Joseph that the Scottish side paid a fee of £300,000 to secure the signing of the forward.

Nisbet joined the Lions in the 2023 summer transfer window, but he struggled to make a major impact at the Den during his two years at the club.

The 28-year-old spent last season out on loan with Aberdeen, where he contributed 11 goals and five assists from 32 appearances in the Premiership.

Millwall’s major Kevin Nisbet loss

It has been claimed that Millwall earned £300,000 for the permanent sale of Nisbet, who signed a three-year deal with Aberdeen.

This accounts as a major loss on the player for the London outfit, who reportedly paid £2 million to sign him in 2023 from Hibernian.

The forward struggled for consistent minutes at the Den in his first campaign with the club, featuring 27 times in the Championship, starting on 17 occasions.

This led to his loan move back to Scotland last summer, before returning to Millwall at the end of the campaign.

While he featured in two of the Lions’ opening four league fixtures, an agreement was struck on deadline day for his permanent exit.

It was a busy deadline day for Alex Neil’s side, with Will Smallbone and Thierno Ballo arriving on loan from Southampton and Wolfsberger, respectively.

But the club receiving £300,000 for Nisbet led to them earning one last sale before the market closed for the rest of the calendar year.

Neil’s team have earned six points from a possible 12 to start the new season, and will now wait until after the international break for their next fixture, which comes against Charlton Athletic on 13 September.

Millwall cut their losses on Kevin Nisbet

The £2 million to sign Nisbet looked like an exciting prospect at the time given his performances for Hibs in Scotland.

But that form never translated to the Championship, and even getting £300,000 out of a sale from him now should represent solid business

Millwall have managed to offload him from the squad, getting rid of his wages from the books and some money has come in for him.

It’s by no means a good piece of transfer strategy, but the club have made do and it’s made for a positive end to the summer market, with their attention now turned to getting the best out of the squad they have after a busy transfer window.
