Summer signing Josh Murphy is estimated to be on a healthy wage at Portsmouth
There has been a fair amount of change at Portsmouth this summer, as John Mousinho geared up his side for their first Championship season since 2011-12.
New signing Josh Murphy from Oxford United made the trip to the south coast, but how much money is the brother of a Premier League star estimated to be on?
The man who began his career at Norwich City hasn't had the same level of success as his brother Jacob, but he has still had a solid career in English football.
The 29-year-old was a star for Des Buckingham's Oxford side last season, scoring twice at Wembley to send the U's into the Championship.
With his contract at the Kassam Stadium up after the season, the winger opted to join fellow second-tier new boys Portsmouth, on a bumper three-year deal.
Some might expect the ex-England youth international to be one of the highest-paid players in the Pompey side, but this is far from the truth, according to Capology.
A valuable asset to his previous employers last season, it would be fair to assume that the Yellows would've wanted to keep hold of their star man. However, the prospect of a better deal at Portsmouth prized him away from Oxfordshire.
Capology estimates that Murphy earns a base weekly wage of £5,000. This equates to around £260,000 a year.
If these estimations are in the ballpark of being accurate, the 29-year-old's three-year deal at Fratton Park would be worth a mouthwatering £780,000. Of course, this is gross pay as well, without factoring in taxes and any other outgoings the winger might have.
Capology has a clear number one when it comes to who Pompey's top earner is, and this estimation certainly makes sense when you look at whom the player is. Matt Ritchie, who signed from Newcastle United this summer, reportedly earns around £15,000 a week.
The former Premier League star hasn't featured consistently in the top flight for a while but is still viewed as a standout player in the Championship, hence the enormous salary in comparison to the rest of the squad. His next closest competitor, ex-Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper, Jordan Archer, is estimated to be on half of what Ritchie earns.
The 35-year-old will earn the same amount this year alone as Murphy will over his entire three years at the club.
Murphy is the joint-fifth highest-paid player for the Championship side, ranking alongside ten other players who are also estimated to be on the same wage as the winger. Captain Marlon Pack and first-choice goalkeeper Will Norris are just two of the important first-team players who are on the same wage as the 29-year-old.
Only Ritchie, Archer, Nicolas Schmid, and Jordan Williams are estimated to be on a higher wage than the former Oxford dangerman. The wages handed out will, of course, be reflective of the specific player's role in the squad, with more important players commanding a higher rate of pay.
There are always several key factors why a player decides to move on from a club. Money plays a big part in a player's decision but also convenience for their family along with game time and contract length will be taken into account.
It seems that according to Capology's estimations, the former Premier League side didn't offer their new signing much more than what he was already earning at Oxford. Last year, the former Norwich man was earning around £220,000 a year, which works out to roughly £4,300 per week.
Whilst it goes without saying that the extra £40,000 per year will be a welcome bonus for Murphy, a big factor in his switch from yellow to blue would be the length of the contract that Pompey put on the table.
Before his time in Oxfordshire, the forward's career was beginning to take a nose-dive after he departed from Cardiff City. Thankfully for the 29-year-old, his second year with the U's saw him get back on track and prove his worth.
