We take a look at how much Chair, who is one of the R's key players, is estimated to be earning at Loftus Road.

Ilias Chair has been one of Queens Park Rangers' most important players in recent years and could be crucial again this season.

The R's have struggled at times in recent years, with the 2022/23 campaign proving to be a very turbulent one.

Under Mick Beale, who implemented a decent style of football, it looked as though the Moroccan was going to take his game to a new level under the 44-year-old.

But it wasn't long before rumours started swirling about Beale's future and when he eventually left for Scottish Premiership outfit Rangers, results were already in decline.

And his successor Neil Critchley was sacked after winning just one of his 12 games in charge.

A promising start to the season helped to compensate for these poor results, but Gareth Ainsworth was only just able to keep the West London club afloat in the Championship, courtesy of crucial away wins at Burnley and Stoke City.

Chair still enjoyed a fairly decent season on a personal level though, certainly on paper anyway, with his five goals and nine assists in 42 competitive appearances aiding the R's.

At the start of last season though, Ainsworth continued to struggle and he was replaced by Marti Cifuentes, who has helped to bring stability and brighter times to Loftus Road.

This could give Chair the opportunity to thrive, but at the time of writing, the player is currently out injured and is yet to make a single appearance so far this season.

The 26-year-old will be hoping to make up for lost time when he returns.

How much Ilias Chair is estimated to be earning at QPR

Many people will expect Chair to be one of the club's highest earners, considering he signed a contract back in 2021 when he was already a fairly key player.

However, according to an estimate from Capology, the 26-year-old is only earning £6,923 per week, which isn't that much for a second-tier player and certainly not much for a player of his calibre.

The player has been impressive in recent years and has probably justified a new contract offer.

But the R's would hold more power over his future if they tie him down to a new deal - and the player may be keen to see his contract expire next year before deciding which path to take next.

A midfielder of his ability is unlikely to be short of options next summer if he opts against putting pen to paper on an extension.

How Ilias Chair's estimated weekly wage compares to other QPR players

Steve Cook is estimated to be the R's highest earner at £30,000 per week, although it wouldn't be a surprise if his actual wage was much less than that.

His wages may have been that high when he was at Premier League club Nottingham Forest, but he probably needed to take a big pay cut to join the West London club.

Jack Colback, Michael Frey and Morgan Fox, meanwhile, are estimated to be on half of that at £15,000 per week.

In total, nine QPR players are estimated to be on a five-figure wage per week at Loftus Road, with one of those being current loanee Harrison Ashby. It wouldn't be a surprise if Newcastle United are paying a decent chunk of his wages.

In terms of Chair, he should probably be on a better contract if he's earning anywhere near the estimated £6,923 per week.
