Jamie Vardy was tipped to complete a "crazy" move to Wrexham this summer by Lee Hendrie when discussing the topic exclusively with Football League World.

The forward’s contract is set to expire in the summer, and there is uncertainty over his future with the Foxes.

Vardy has become a club legend during his time at the King Power Stadium, playing a pivotal role in two promotions, an FA Cup triumph and their remarkable rise to the Premier League title in 2016.

However, at 38, it’s unclear what the future holds as we approach the summer, with Hendrie suggesting a move to the Racecourse Ground could be a good move for one season.

"Obviously his age is one thing [to consider], but, for one season, I don't think it would be a bad signing whatsoever,” Hendrie exclusively told FLW.

“So that'd be a good thing if that was true, and it'd be welcomed."

Here, we use estimated figures from Capology to look at Vardy’s wages ahead of a potential move to Wrexham

Vardy is the best paid player in the Leicester squad, with the experienced forward earning £140,000 per week - that would of course have to be vastly reduced if he is to join Wrexham.

The striker joined the Foxes in 2012 from Fleetwood Town, and has been a mainstay in the side ever since.

He was crucial to the club remaining in the Premier League after their promotion in 2014 under Nigel Pearson, going from strength to strength in the years that followed.

However, their relegation to the Championship in 2023 led to a mass exodus of talent from the first team squad, such as Youri Tielemans and James Maddison, leaving Vardy as the biggest name left.

Harry Winks joined from Tottenham Hotspur that summer, and immediately becoming their second top earner, receiving £90,000 per week.

Boubakary Soumaré and Ricardo Pereira are joint-third, with the pair on a weekly salary worth £80,000.

Wilfred Ndidi and Conor Coady round out the top five, with the duo receiving £75,000-a-week, with the club heading towards relegation from the top flight.

Jamie Vardy’s Championship form over the years could still make him a good signing for Wrexham

With Leicester now set for a return to the second tier, they will be looking to build a team capable of earning promotion straight back to the Premier League in 2026.

It remains to be seen whether Vardy will be a part of those plans, with a new manager potentially in the frame to be in the dugout in place of Ruud van Nistelrooy.

A decision will need to be made in the coming weeks, with Vardy's contract set to expire in June, and his previous performances in the Championship could be what convinces everyone another year at Leicester is right for all parties.

Vardy scored 18 times in the league as Enzo Maresca guided the Foxes to the Championship title in 2024.

However, a move to Wrexham could also be quite appealing if Phil Parkinson’s team can secure a third promotion in a row.

The Red Dragons are second in the League One table with only a few games remaining, and the prospect of joining this club on the rise could be an exciting new adventure for Vardy in the final stages of his career - especially with the Hollywood notoriety that comes with it.
