Real Madrid’s 3-0 win over Real Valladolid earlier this week was not the smoothest of performances from Carlo Ancelotti’s side.

It was not until Federico Valverde’s goal from a free-kick that Los Blancos looked comfortable breaking down the visitors’ defence, with even Kylian Mbappe struggling in front of goal.

While the Frenchman did not find the back of the net on the night, the team’s second signing of the summer, Endrick, scored in the 96th minute, marking his first goal as a Real Madrid player.

A costly goal

It can only be good news for Ancelotti that the team’s latest Brazilian recruit hit the ground running immediately. The goal, however, is costly from Real Madrid’s perspective.

As revealed by Mundo Deportivo, the transfer agreement between Real Madrid and Palmeiras included several variables, including a stipulated fee for every time the player scores, assists, or wins a penalty.

Los Blancos, thus, must pay the Brazilian outfit €35,000 for every goal contribution or penalty won by the player until 2030, making every goal he scores worth that amount.

As such, the Spanish champions had to shell out €35,000 to Palmeiras when Endrick scored his first goal for the team against Valladolid on Sunday.

It is not clear if there is a limit on the number of goals Real Madrid must pay Palmeiras for, but the Brazilian side can earn up to €12.5 million in variables altogether.

What are the other clauses?

As revealed by the Spanish outlet, Endrick’s transfer to Real Madrid could well see the club shell out significant amounts in variables given how the deal was structured.

Apart from the aforementioned premium on goals and penalties, Real Madrid must pay Palmeiras €75,000 for every game Endrick starts and plays at least 45 minutes.

Winning La Liga with the youngster starting at least eight games will cost the club €500,000, while 18 starts in the competition will double the fee.

Should Real Madrid win the UCL, they must pay Palmeiras either €1 or €2 million based on whether the player has played at least four or eight games as a starter.

The rest of the variables pertain to individual accolades wherein the Brazilian side merit €1 million if he wins the Golden Boy or Kopa Trophy or finishes in the top three of the Ballon d’Or or FIFA The Best.

Should he win either of the latter two, Real Madrid must double the sum and pay €2 million.
