How much a semi-final Champions League spot would be worth for Milan | OneFootball

AC Milan are gearing up to face Napili in the Champions League quarter-finals on Wednesday evening. It’s the first of two legs and the Rossoneri are optimistic, having beaten the Partenopei 4-0 recently.

It will be an interesting clash underneath the floodlights at San Siro as Milan managed to beat Napoli 4-0 just last weekend. A lot is on the line and the Rossoneri seem to have a slight psychological advantage, but it’s not certain.

Making it through to the semi-finals would be huge for both sides, not just because they would face Inter or Benfica there but also financially. In fact, securing a spot in the semi-final instantly gets you an extra €12.5m.

Milan have already secured €71.4m in prize money as well as roughly €32m in ticket sales (read our breakdown on Substack). A semi-final spot would thus give the extra €12.5m mentioned above plus around €9m in ticket sales.

In addition to that, we must also add the market pool 2, which is decided based on how far the Italian teams make it in the competition. The one who gets the farthest gets the most money. In short, we are talking about at least an additional €21.5m.
