How Liverpool players performed during the September international break | OneFootball

16 members of Liverpool's squad were on senior international duty this past week, hoping to bring their impressive club form with them to the national teams.

There were plenty of players who managed to do just that, with the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Luis Diaz and Ryan Gravenberch all putting in particularly impressive performances.

Here's how Liverpool's international players fared during the September international break.

Trent Alexander-Arnold

The star of the international break for Lee Carsley's England, Trent Alexander-Arnold finally got the chance to start at right-back for his nation this past week, and he took it with both arms.

He earned himself two player of the match awards for his showings against Republic of Ireland and Finland.

Ryan Gravenberch

Having cemented his place in the Liverpool lineup in recent weeks, Ryan Gravenberch went about doing the same at international level during the September games.

The young midfielder played the full 90 minutes in both the win over Bosnia-Herzegovina and the 2-2 draw with Germany. He was particularly impressive in the latter game, setting up a goal and going viral thanks to an outrageous volleyed through ball too.

Virgil van Dijk

While Ryan Gravenberch was cementing his place in the Dutch lineup, his club and international captain was busy racking up his 75th and 76th caps.

Despite the win and decent draw with Germany, Van Dijk probably won't be too happy with conceding four goals in two games.

Cody Gakpo

He has barely got a kick at club level, but at international level Cody Gakpo remains as important as ever.

The wide forward scored one of the Dutch's five goals in the win over Bosnia.

Mohamed Salah

Mohamed Salah's Egypt were in sparkling form during their AFCON qualifiers in September, beating Cape Verde 3-0 before thumping Botswana 4-0.

Their captain, of course, starred in both games, netting in the win over Botswana too.

Wataru Endo

Wataru Endo has managed just one single minute of football for Liverpool this season, but was able to racked up 161 with Japan in their World Cup qualifiers.

The defensive midfielder even managed a goal in the 7-0 win over China - his fourth for his nation.

It's fair to say the Nations League games didn't go to plan for Hungary and Dominik Szoboszlai.

Hungary were thumped 5-0 by Germany in their first game, before playing out a rather dire 0-0 draw with Bosnia in their second.

Ibrahima Konate

Given a surprise start alongside William Saliba in France's first game of the break against Italy, Ibrahima Konate failed to impress in an eventual 3-1 defeat.

Dayot Upamecano then started in his stead for the 2-0 win over Belgium.

Alexis Mac Allister

Liverpool's fears that Alexis Mac Allister had suffered an adductor injury were quickly allayed this past week by Argentina boss Lionel Scaloni, who brought the midfielder on for the final 30 minutes of the shock defeat to Colombia.

Alisson

Alisson conceded his first goal of the season this past week, seeing a beautiful outside of the boot effort from Diego Gomez fly past him in Brazil's 1-0 defeat to Paraguay.

In the other game of the break, Alisson did manage to keep a clean sheet in a 1-0 win over Ecuador.

Kostas Tsimikas

Kostas Tsimikas and Greece made pretty light work of their Nations League games in September.

A 3-0 win over Finland was followed up by a 2-0 victory over the Republic of Ireland. Nice one.

Caoimhin Kelleher

Along with suffering two disastrous defeats at the hands of England and Greece, Republic of Ireland number Caoimhin Kelleher also had some choice words to say about his situation at Liverpool.

The goalkeeper revealed that he had asked for a move during the summer, and remains keen to leave at the next available opportunity.

Luis Diaz

Luis Diaz's career-best form continued during the international break.

After scoring in Colombia's 1-1 draw with Peru, the wide forward was a thorn in Agentina's side in a famous 2-1 win too.

Andy Robertson

Things haven't been going great for Scotland recently, and that was evidenced by their rather horrendous performances in September.

Andy Robertson played the full 90 minutes in both defeats to Portugal and Poland.

Conor Bradley

Conor Bradley has been a regular off of the bench for Arne Slot this season, but he remains a starter at international level for Northern Ireland.

The full-back started both the win over Luxembourg and the defeat to Bulgaria.

Diogo Jota

A late substitute in Portugal's win over Croatia, Diogo Jota then started the 2-1 win over Scotland as the lone striker.

He put a decent shift in in that role.
