How Kylian Mbappé’s Real Madrid arrival will affect Rodrygo | OneFootball

An insight into the predicted knock-on effect of Kylian Mbappé’s arrival at La Liga giants Real Madrid on the position of Rodrygo has on Friday been provided.

The info comes courtesy of Diario AS, and points towards the latter as being set for a new, and somewhat unwanted role.

That in question? A place on the right wing.

Brazilian international Rodrygo has of course taken his place on the right flank on a number of occasions in the past, under the watch of Carlo Ancelotti.

He has often struggled, however, with it evident that the 23-year-old is most effective when cutting in from positions on the left.

Unfortunately for Rodrygo, though, his comfort on the pitch will need to be compromised to ensure that of two of his more high-profile teammates, in Vinícius Jr, and the incoming Kylian Mbappé.

As per AS:

‘it is more than likely that Carlo Ancelotti will start by betting on a trident with Rodrygo on the right. It is not the Brazilian’s favourite position, who would like to play on the left or, failing that, in the attacking midfield as a ‘false nine.’
