The deliveries from wingbacks Federico Dimarco and Denzel Dumfries have been key to getting Marcus Thuram in goalscoring form at Inter Milan.
Italian news outlet Gazzetta.it highlight how the wingback duo have played a massive role in unlocking the Frenchman.
Thuram’s goal against Roma over the weekend means that the 26-year-old has now scored five goals since joining Inter in the summer.
Moreover, the striker has already made a habit of scoring important goals.
All but one of Thuram’s goals have opened the scoring in matches that Inter have gone on to win,
Moreover, against both the Giallorossi and Benfica, the Frenchman’s goal was the difference in a 1-0 win. He has shown that he can unlock matches in the second half.
Obviously a lot of the credit goes to Thuram himself.
The former Borussia Monchengladbach has shown killer instincts to go with this pace and technical ability.
But even the best strikers can’t do it without help. And Thuram has had plenty of that from his wide players.
Much has been made of Thuram’s excellent partnership with Inter captain Lautaro Martinez.
But in terms of goalscoring, the Frenchman has actually done more than the Argentine than vice-versa. Or at least in terms of direct assists.
On the other hand, as the Gazzetta highlights, service from the flanks has been crucial for Thuram to really start scoring on a consistent basis.
Technically all of Thuram’s goals have come from assists from either Dimarco or Dumfries.
It was the Dutchman who initially passed it to the striker before his brilliant solo strike in the derby against AC Milan.
How much credit Dumfries can really take for that goal is debatable.
But in the case of the other four, there is no question that great crosses and passes have been crucial for Thuram finding the back of the net.
The 26-year-old’s first goal for Inter came in a win against Fiorentina. That was a header, which resulted from a pinpoint Dimarco cross.
Then it was Dumfries’s turn.
Having already, technically, assisted Thuram in the derby, the former PSV man put in a much more impressive piece of play to link up with the Frenchman on the counter against Benfica.
And it was once again Dumfries assisting Thuram when the striker scored against Torino last weekend.
The 27-year-old had only just come onto the pitch minutes earlier before cutting it back to his teammate.
And finally, on Sunday against Roma, it was Dimarco again with another perfect cross for Thuram to finish.
