The likes of Joe Gelhardt and Sam Greenwood are the young forwards that have Whites fans most excited what the future may hold now, with Edmondson unable to add to his two senior appearances for the Yorkshire club since the 2018/19 campaign.

The 20-year-old has spent time out on loan over the past few seasons – with Aberdeen, Northampton Town, Fleetwood Town, and now Port Vale.

Who did Leeds face in their first EFL fixture back in 2004?

Nottingham Forest Leicester City Stoke City Derby County

It took Edmondson a little bit of time to settle at his new club but he’s been in fine form since the start of February.

The striker has three goals in his last six games for Vale and has helped them stay within reach of the play-offs.

Clarke and co. will be plotting a late push up the table and it looks as though the Leeds loanee is likely to play a key role in that.

Edmondson’s goal return for the Vale Park outfit is already better than at any of the clubs he’s previously joined on loan while he’s also won 2.2 aerial duels and averages 0.4 key passes per game (Whoscored) – showing his influence is growing in other areas as well.

As long as he can keep scoring, however, you’d imagine he’ll remain a popular figure among the Vale faithful.

The 20-year-old’s contract at Leeds expires in 2023 and though there is a new manager at the helm in Jesse Marsch, you feel we could see him depart the Yorkshire club in the upcoming window.

If he can finish the season strongly, there may be a fair few EFL suitors.
