When Moussa Sissoko arrived at Watford last summer, there was hope that the experience being brought in by signing a former French international would aid the club’s survival bid.

That was not to be the case though, with the 33-year-old neither greatly impressing nor greatly disappointing.

There were undoubtedly some good showings, but also some which massively underwhelmed, with the midfielder appearing 36 times in the Premier League as Watford succumbed to relegation.

As with many other Hornets, Sissoko moved on following the drop to the Championship, linking up with Ligue 1 side FC Nantes.

With that in mind, here at FLW, we thought we’d take a look at how the former French international was getting on.

How is he getting on?

It doesn’t appear to have been completely plain sailing for Sissoko upon his return to France.

The midfielder started Nantes’ first couple of matches of the season, a Trophee des Champions clash versus PSG, and a league match against Angers, but, he then missed five consecutive matches in the league due to an injury.

Fortunately it appears it was nothing too serious, with Sissoko returning to action earlier this month in the Europa League in a 2-1 win over Olympiacos.

The Frenchman has also featured against Qarabag in the European competition, and has since also featured in Ligue 1.

Interestingly, the 33-year-old was benched for the club’s 0-0 draw at home to Lens this past weekend, which once again suggests it’s been a far from easy transition to Nantes.

All in all, owing to injury, it has been a slow start for Sissoko, who will hope that his benching this past weekend does not become a regular occurrence moving forwards.
