How is ex-Fulham man Lazar Markovic getting on these days? | OneFootball

Having previously had loan spells with Fenerbahce, Hull City, Sporting CP, and Anderlecht, Markovic joined the Cottagers on a free transfer from Liverpool as they were battling relegation from the Premier League in 2019.

However, the former Liverpool man did not have much influence on things as Fulham were relegated, pulling on the club shirt just once – a substitute appearance in a 3-1 loss away at West Ham United.

Prior to signing for Fulham, on top of his loan spells, the Serbian winger had come through the ranks at FK Partizan Belgrade, where he won three Serbian championships.

His performances for FK Partizan earned him a move to Benfica, where Markovic’s sole season in Portugal was enough to impress Liverpool enough to invest.

Things never quite worked out for Markovic on Merseyside though, with the player ultimately leaving the Reds on a free.

Markovic’s time at Fulham did not work out either and he went on to leave the club shortly after joining when his short-term deal expired.

Here at FLW, we thought we’d take a look at how the Serbian is getting on these days.

Upon leaving Fulham, the then 25-year-old returned to FK Partizan Belgrade in his native Serbia, where, as above, he previously came through the academy and won three Serbian championships.

Since making the move back home, the 28-year old has gone on to make a further 78 appearances for FK Partizan Belgrade, scoring 19 goals and assisting 13 times during that period.

At 28-years-old, Markovic still has plenty of years ahead of him, but seems settled in Serbia having returned there.

After having played for so many clubs and had several different loan spells earlier in his career, perhaps the stability offered by FK Partizan Belgrade was exactly what Markovic needed when he left Fulham almost three years ago.
