The name of Flick, of course, has returned to the forefront of the headlines across Europe late on Tuesday.

This comes after reports stemming from the German press pointed towards the 58-year-old as having made his way back into the sights of the powers that be at Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich.

Current Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel is under mounting pressure at present, with a 3-0 drubbing at the hands of Bayer Leverkusen at the weekend having seen the Bavarians slip a full five points off the pace being set by their title rivals.

In turn, it has been confirmed that, in the case of the former Chelsea boss being moved on, compatriot Flick is a leading candidate to replace him.

What would this mean for the aforementioned Barcelona, though?

Flick has long been identified as a leading target to replace the outbound Xavi on the bench in Catalunya’s capital this summer, meaning a reunion with Bayern would mark quite the blow for the Blaugrana.

According to Diario Sport, though, it could also mark an opportunity for the Camp Nou brass.

This comes with Thomas Tuchel on the managerial shortlist drawn up by Joan Laporta and his team of directors, too.

In the case of Flick returning to Munich, Tuchel would in turn become available, and could find himself immediately back in a job, on this occasion in La Liga.
