Paris Saint-Germain will be crowned Ligue 1 champions again this season. It is a fact that has been known for some time. Since mid-February, PSG manager Luis Enrique has been acutely aware of the club’s impending league triumph and this certainty has allowed him to experiment with his team selection. Notably, as he and the club as a whole prepare for life without Kylian Mbappé, the France captain, PSG’s talisman, has been rested with the safety of knowing that dropping points will be inconsequential.

The Ligue 1 title could be wrapped up later this week. The LFP, Ligue 1’s governing body, made the choice to postpone three games in Round 29 in order to bolster French clubs’ chances of European progression. As a result, PSG did not face Lorient, AS Monaco did not host Lille OSC and OGC Nice did not visit fierce rivals Olympique de Marseille.

These games will take place on Wednesday and should PSG win and should results elsewhere go their way, Les Parisiens will be crowned champions for the third successive season. After Monaco beat Stade Brestois on Sunday, they rose to second in the league, 11 points behind PSG. Should PSG beat Lorient and should Monaco fail to win at home to Lille on Wednesday, PSG will be crowned Ligue 1 champions with four games remaining.
