Are Rovers giving their fans value for money when compared with the rest of the league?

It has been a positive start to the 2024/25 Championship season for Blackburn Rovers.

Having only avoided relegation to League One on the final day of last season, the Ewood Park club will be looking to climb back up the table in the current campaign.

Despite the loss of last season's Championship Golden Boot winner, Sammie Szmodics, the transfer window was a positive one for the Lancashire outfit.

With nine new players coming in, the squad does look to be stronger than it was in the previous campaign, and so far, Blackburn's results are backing that up.

John Eustace's side were unbeaten in their first six league games of the campaign, for the first time since the 2012/13 season.

That left them sitting fourth in the Championship table, with 12 points to their name, which most of those connected with the club will undoubtedly be pleased with as a starting point.

However, it seems as though one aspect of the early stages of the campaign that has disappointed some of those at Ewood Park, revolves around season tickets.

Blackburn season ticket sales for 2024/25 revealed

It has been reported that during a recent fans forum meeting, representatives from the club revealed their disappointment at the number of season tickets sold this season.

According to the figures provided, Rovers sold a total of 9,141 season tickets for the current campaign, with only 4,104 of those being sold to adults.

That is, of course, something that Blackburn will be desperate to improve on in the coming years, both to boost the atmosphere at Ewood Park, and aid the club's financial situation.

But could the cost of those tickets have an influence on the sale numbers being recorded by the club?

Here, we've taken a look at the price of the cheapest adult season ticket available at Blackburn this season, and examined how it compares to the rest of the Championship.

Rovers among the more expensive Championship season tickets

Of course, prices of any season tickets will often fluctuate at times during the off-season, as early bird offers are implemented and then removed over the course of the summer.

That, of course, can influence the perspective of comparisons such as these, depending on the timings of offers and when data is collated.

In fairness to Blackburn, their early bird prices were also reduced by a further £30 this summer to commemorate the 30th anniversary of their Premier League title win.

At that point, the cheapest adult season ticket was worth £349, although that would rise as the summer went on.

By the time of the second phase of season ticket sales, the cheapest adult price at Ewood Park was £429.

According to a report from Birmingham World over the summer, that meant that the cheapest Blackburn season ticket at that time was still the tenth most expensive in the Championship.

Given they finished 19th in the second-tier last season, only avoiding relegation on the final day, some may have wondered if such a price was justified at the time.

It is, of course, also worth noting that there are plenty of other teams in the north-west of England for Blackburn to compete with to attract supporters for the club.

Indeed, both of their Championship Lancashire rivals, Burnley (£352) and Preston North End (£294) offered cheaper season tickets, according to these figures.

With that in mind, it will be interesting to see if that sense of frustration, and these figures, lead to any change in price at Blackburn this season, and if that, in turn, prompts any change in sales.
