Bayern Munich can move four points clear of Borussia Dortmund on Saturday afternoon should they beat Schalke. Kick-off at the Allianz Arena in 15:30 local time.

With Dayot Upamecano back in the squad after a muscular injury and Lucas Hernandez still sidelined, expect Thomas Tuchel to name the same back four that started at Werder Bremen last weekend with Benjamin Pavard playing his favoured role in central-defence.

After missing Bayern’s 2-1 win against Bremen through suspension after accumulating five yellow cards, Leon Goretzka is expected to return alongside Joshua Kimmich, but Ryan Gravenberch’s performances of late gives Tuchel an interesting option in central midfield. The Dutchman was praised for his cameo against Hertha Berlin and also impressed last weekend.

In attack, Tuchel hinted that Leroy Sané could replace Sadio Mané, the former scored Bayern’s second against Werder Bremen. Serge Gnabry, who has scored in consecutive games for the first time since November, is expected to retain his place as Bayern’s No. 9 in the absence of Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, who misses this game.

De Ligt, Kimmich and Sané are all one yellow card away from a suspension.

Predicted Bayern Munich XI vs Schalke

Yann Sommer – Noussair Mazraoui, Benjamin Pavard, Matthijs de Ligt, Joao Cancelo – Joshua Kimmich, Leon Goretzka – Leroy Sané, Jamal Musiala, Kingsley Coman – Serge Gnabry.
