Paris Saint-Germain eliminated FC Barcelona from the UEFA Champions League last Tuesday. A report reveals how an important club chief for the Catalan side spent the night after the team’s embarrassing exit.

The second leg couldn’t have gone better for the Spanish squad as they opened the scoring for a 1-0 lead (4-2 on aggregate). However, after that point, the contest went downhill following Ronald Araujo‘s red card, which opened the floodgates for PSG’s attack.

PSG scored four unanswered goals to win the match 4-1 and advance, on a 6-4 aggregate victory, to the Champions League semifinals, where they’ll face Borussia DortmundSPORT reports that after the elimination, Barcelona president Joan Laporta had a drink with super agent Jorge Mendes.

The second-leg loss to the Ligue 1 side hurt the club chief, and the Spanish media outlet notes that Laporta didn’t go home because he was not in a good mood.

Perhaps Laporta understands the financial ramifications of being eliminated. According to a recent report from RMC Sport, Barcelona missed out on a sporting bonus of €12.5 million from UEFA and failed to qualify for the FIFA Club World Cup, which also has a significant sum for prize money.
