Chelsea made a bright start to last night’s game, taking a lead and impressing early on with their intensity.

As the first half wore on however, their energy faded and Lille got back into the game. The crowd got quieter, and the pressure on the Chelsea back line grew.

Knowing that this side is built on solid defensive play, and that the XI on the pitch needed a boost, both Antonio Rudiger and Thiago Silva had moments where they roared to the Stamford Bridge crowd to get them going after making important defensive interventions, Football.London noted.

Both had excellent games at the back, and used their sway over the crowd to get them involved to help the players further forward.

Sure enough, the burst of energy unleashed from the fans got Chelsea going again, and after a few more blocks and tackles along the way from their back line, they were home and dry.
