A porn star has pledged 10 per cent of the proceeds from sales of her 2018 calendar in a bid to save one of Italy’s most historic football clubs.

On 18 January, Serie C club Vicenza Calcio were formally declared bankrupt by a tribunal. Once a mainstay of Serie A, the Lanerossi have been struggling financially for a number of years and their supporters now face a desperate race against time to raise enough money to prevent the club’s extinction.

But the good news is, they’ll be getting a little help from an unlikely source. Porn star Amandha Fox – AKA ‘Polish Venus’ – is a well known figure in Vincenza who, according to the local newspaper, has written to the bankruptcy trustee with a most generous offer.

“I love the Vicenza Calcio fans and I want to help them by paying 10 per cent of the sales proceeds of my 2018 calendar,” wrote Fox, as reported by the ‘Gazzettino’.

“Some of my fans informed me that the Court of Vicenza has officially declared the bankruptcy of the city’s football team,” continued the letter.

“This news saddens me coming as it does exactly 40 years after the Lanerossi finished the 1977/78 championship in second place behind Juventus, so I asked the bankruptcy administrator to be able to pay my modest financial contribution to help the wonderful fans of Vicenza who care about their team.”

Vicenza – who won the Coppa Italia in 1997 and once boasted such luminaries as Roberto Baggio and Paolo Rossi among their ranks – will be allowed to continue in Serie C until the end of this season, after which the most likely scenario will see a new ‘phoenix’ club join Serie D, the top amateur league.

Their bankruptcy came just two months after Modena – another club boasting over a century of history – also went to the wall and their supporters held a mock funeral in the city’s streets.
